Prof. Tamir Shafer and his research student Itai Gabai evaluated thousands of news reports and quotes in the British and American media before and after the expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif. To their surprise, they found that world opinion, not particularly favorable to Israel prior to the expulsion, was even less favorable after the action.
Considering that improved world opinion was one of the goals of the destruction of the Jewish community in Gush Katif, it seems that the action failed by all parameters evaluated to date.
The research will be reported upon at the upcoming Davis Conference of Hebrew University.
