Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has been counting on the diplomatic initiative of President Barak Obama and the United States to bring about a worldwide coalition supporting crippling sanctions against Iran. All this in an effort to hurt Iran economically and bring its nuclear pursuit to a slowdown. Prime Minister Netanyahu has thrown his weight behind this initiative with various trips by himself and his Ministers to countries in Europe and the East to convince them of joining this coalition of countries supporting sanctions.
However, with the recent announcements of China and Russia opposing the full sanctions, together with the recent statement from U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the U.S government still needs many months to forge a coalition, it seems now that crippling sanctions Prime Minister Netanyahu was counting on to help protect Isreal from the growing threat of a nuclear Iran, is not going to happen.
The question remains, what will Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu do now in order to protect Israel from this growing existential threat to Israel?
The worrying aspect for Jews and Israelis worldwide is that the world powers are more concerned with a possible military strike by Israel on Iran than they are about the threat of a nuclear Iran to world stability.
