"The Sixties" band played to a sold out house of 400 people in the Gush Etzion Matnas located in Alon Shvut on Saturday night. It was the 4th annual JobKatif Benefit Concert with proceeds going to support that organization's ongoing efforts to put all Gush Katif refugees back to work.

1700 Jewish families were expelled from their homes in the 2004 action. JobKatif has managed to put 1000 people among them back to work so far with over 100 of them starting up new business with JobKatif's help.

The government recently pledged $4 million in matching funds to JobKatif. Rabbi Zvi Rimon, founder and director of JobKatif, asked that everyone in the audience try to think of creative ways in which to raise JobKatif's $4 million share of the matching endeavor.

The audience was a mixture of young and old - about 90% native English-speakers - with a majority able to remember the original versions of the 60's tunes played.

With lots of clapping, lots of singing along, hooting, whistling and even some dancing (separated by gender, as requested), clearly this year's choice of band was a big hit.

After a middle-aged woman with her hair covered yelled out a request for a song by The Rolling Stones, things really heated up with amazing guitar riffs and some down and dirty rock and roll.

"The Sixties" will be back for a return performance on Jan. 30th for those who missed them the first time around.
